Looking for inspiration for your Black Friday social media posts? As one of the biggest shopping days of the year, it’s no surprise brands are pulling out all the stops to capture customer attention.

What should I post on social media on Black Friday?

How do you promote a Black Friday sale on social media?

Sound like you?

This is a guide for small businesses to leverage Black Friday sales. Weeks before Black Friday even starts, you see people posting about it on social media. It’s coming out in the newsletters. You go to any mall, any store and people are already slashing prices. There’s pink Friday, there’s cyber Monday, Black Friday isn’t simple anymore. And a lot can get lost in translation if you don’t know what you’re doing. This can be overwhelming, especially for small businesses, which don’t have the time. So here’s a rundown on how you could have a successful marketing strategy for Black Friday.

Black Friday can be applicable to pretty much any service or product you’re providing business. Because of that, there’s a lot of different takes that you can have when trying to tackle marketing for Black Friday.

Tip 1: Build Suspense

Social media is a great tool for being able to build suspense towards the release of your planned sales. In the weeks coming up to Black Friday, you should be posting at least twice a week to give people a reminder that you’re going to be having a Black Friday sale. Show some of the potential items that might be going on sale. Mention the percentage that might be on sale. Set reminders on Instagram so people can subscribe to it and get notifications.

Here are some example posts to get you thinking:

Tip 2: Discounts

One tactic to both increase your following and engagement is to offer an early bird discount. So the week before Black Friday, for example, make a post that if your followers tag three friends, then they’ll receive an early discount code. The more engagement on that post, the more your following grows, which will lead to more sales.

Tip 3: Ask and Receive

Put a call out to your followers and ask them what they want to be on sale for Black Friday. That doesn’t mean you need to honor their requests, but it gives you a chance to find out what products potentially could sell out and what might not be worth slashing prices on.

Tip 4: Links, Links, Links

On Black Friday and in advance of Black Friday, your best friend is going to be linked. Links on your stories, links in your bio, put them everywhere. If you’re a service based business post a link to your appointment booking, if your product based post your sales page for Black Friday. Whatever you do, make sure those links are on everything.

Tip 5: Consistency is Key

My last tip is to keep an eye on how frequently you’re posting. I recommend once a day, every day of the week when you’re trying to get sales for Black Friday and promote your service or your products. You want to make sure that you are posting frequently so your followers are notified of what’s going on and what sales are when.
